Helen Keller Lecture 2019

On October 16, 2019, The College of Education hosted the annual Helen Keller Lecture Series.

Featured speaker was Erik Weihenmayer. Blind since the age of 14, Erik became the first blind man to reach the summit of Mount Everest, and he has scaled the seven major summits of the world. He is now an author, activist, and motivational speaker.

The event took place in Claudia Crosby Theater at 10 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Businesses and organizations were available for contact to students and guests.

The event brought many organizations on campus together. Trojan Ambassadors greeted students and guests as they entered Claudia Crosby.

After the lecture, students discussed both the motivational aspects and the funny stories that guest speaker Erik Weihenmayer told.

The seating in the theater eventually filled, so those unable to find seats were welcomed to watch the livestream of the lecture together in Hawkins Hall.

Numerous news organizations were also on campus covering the event, along with high school students who attended the lecture as well.

After the lecture, students signed into their class rosters. The Helen Keller Lecture is just one of the many ways Troy University College of Education brings outer world knowledge and fun ways of learning to its curriculum.
